I would appreciate the internal diameter of the 40S&W resizing die. These are very scarce and looks like I'm making my own.

I've read some where that sizing die reamers are 0.004 undersize in the body. Anyone have input.

Thanks,

JJ

Usually manufactures allow for the alloy to pop back once sized. When I used to make star type sizing dies I allowed .0002 to .0003 for .30 cal, .0003 to .0004 for .357/.38, .0004" for .40/.41 and .0005 for .45 cal.

The alloy I regulated my dies was 92-2-6. The more lead your alloy has in it the less you must allow for alloy spring back. FWIW

what kind of sizer are you using ? I have one for lyman/rcbs I dont have a 40 and if I get one I will use star anyway. If you can use it send pm you can have it for what I paid. I dont have pin gauges but I can try to get a ID measurement on it if that will help.

Gents,

The information that you-all posted is very valuable and useful, Thanks

I may have been unclear I was looking for the brass case resizing die internal diameter for the 40 S&W cartridge. Brass cases have a spring back and I just wanted to see if anyone had suggestions for a starting diameter.

Now that I have the lead diameter (Thanks Marine Sgt, Semper Fi) I now can make my own lead resizing dies.
