I've been shooting Lee 358-158-RF with good results for Cowboy Action Shooting. I'm thinking of ordering either Lee 358-105-SWC or 358-125-RF. Does anyone have any success or recommendations with either bollit?
Ideally I will be able to shoot the "selected" style boolit in both my Rugers as well as the Marlin. I am only driving the present 158 grain boolit at about 780FPS in the Marlin.
I'd really like to try a boolit that has a truncated cone, similar to Lee's 356-120-TC. Sadly the Lee is .356" diameter. However, I believe I could mount the mold, less handles in my lathe and open the grooves to about .360" if the modifications would be beneficial. The boolits would then be lubersized to .358".
One other thing that I would appreciate a comment on is the lack of a "crimping" groove on the .356" boolit. I don't really think they are necessary with my velocity, any comments?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts,
Bob
