what is the best way to removed the small holding pins on rifles ???

Properly sized drift punches, very close to the diameter of the pin. A small brass or copper hammer- you don't want to wail away with the ball-peen from out in the garage. A good vise or some other good support to hold it firmly. A good penetrating oil to soak a recalcitrant pin for a day or two. A small butane torch to apply pinpoint heat to the pin if all else fails- totally last resort. At that point you're probably better off taking it to a good 'smith rather than heating it and beating on it. Probably the most important tool is the one between your ears. Common sense and a methodical approach trumps ignorance and a big hammer!
