Got it a week ago Friday and found my way to the range a coupl times since.

This pistol was used but new and had a round count of 300 when I got it. I've put another 320 through it and I have to say it - this WILL be my carry gun should I ever need one. Totally reliable, accurate and just feels damn good in my hand.

I shoot a cast 230g TC over 5.3g W231 and this Bobtail feeds it like poop through a goose. I'm confident enough with this pistol to take it hog hunting. With a 230g TC moving @ 800fps, it will do the job - no doubt.

Slide to frame fit - outstanding!

I took the center out of 6 targets so far. I'm jazzed to say the least. Well worth the effort I expended to make this happen.

The beauty part - it likes lead, so I intend to give it all it wants. :)

HeHe, DW's rule!
My DW, alas, not a Bobtail (http://content.glidesociety.com/image.aspx?id=134eeab3-046a-4842-9ced-7f38aacd33d9)

You have an exquisite pistol.
Having shot a few domestic hogs that were on the loose in my woods, I found the .45 needed to be well placed at fairly short range on pigs in the 300# and up class. At 10 to 15 yards, a TC hard cast 225 grain slug would go through the animal from side to side but would make perhaps 18 inches when shot from the rear. The gristle that covers a hog's ribs tends to keep a bullet out on quartering shots. If you can get a head or spinal shot things are well. Other shots will require some patience but the .45 ACP will do the job.
Good hunting and cherish that elegant shooting iron.

See my comments on DW 1911s in the XSE thread above.

Congratulations - you have one of the finest 1911s ever made in my opinion.

I am not personally a huge fan of the bobtail, but that is just a small styling issue.
The DW quality, fit and finish are spectacular and have to be seen to be
believed. All the pieces are individually well made and good designs, and they
are put together absolutely perfectly. As Al says - the slide frame fit can
only be appreciated by feeling one.

Great choice! You will love it, I am sure.

Try Lym 452460 at .452" over 3.5 Gr BE or Titegroup and starline brass. You will
be amazed.

I saw your comments and wanted to add that my pre-CZ DW also has a very tight throat. I've got Lee 452-200-rf boolits seated to 1.115" to chamber. Sucker runs good though.

That is one VERY nice pistol. I come from the era where you bought a new Colt and then immediately took it to a good gunsmith for a total rebuild. I have two such pistols and they are a joy to use (AFTER they were worked over).

The new era where guns are "good to go" right out of the box "fair bewilders a Certified Old Fart". I am a Kimber fan (of the modern pistols) but that Dan Wesson looks as good as any pistol I have ever laid eyes on and FAR better than most. It appears that the "good old days" are NOW!:drinks:

DW built a wonderful revolver, then went to hell after being bought out. After many years, they came back with good guns again.
My friend has one of those DW 1911's and I shot a 1/2" group with it at 50 yd's. It is a fantastic gun.
