Herter's Dies

Hello All: My Herter's swaging dies are for 1/2 and 3/4 jackets and produce bullets with straight jackets which do not taper towards the point. I'm thinking if I make a nose punch without a step at the mouth the jacket will ride into the punch producing a bullet that has a jacket that tapers towards the point. Am I on the right track? thanks, Danth

That's an interesting idea, but I could think of one problem. If you remove the step, you'll be making the end of the punch wall paper thin, and the punch wall might break off with swaging pressures. One thing I notice with my Swagomatic, is if you get the core weight just right, you get a core that just fills the jacket with no extrusion, but there's no lead exposed to the bore.
