They did a thing on the History Channel a couple of weeks ago. WOW ... it was impressive. They can even lock out a cylinder and then enter a door to do maintenence on that particular cylinder. The connecting rods were like 12 to 15 tons each. Definately a lot of power.

Was just curious how do you start one of those monsters..with a 2 cylinder starting a 10 cylinder starting the main engine??

It's got one of those pull cords, like on top of your lawn mower.

They line up #1 cylender on t.d.c. pull thevent cover and after pouring in 40 gallons of gas they apply a match to said hole .... they use loooong matches.....Dean

Jake, the cross head idea is not new. A lot of old time steam engines especially ships engines, locomotive engines and stationary engines used the crosshead for the very same reason. They took old technology and brought it into the 21st century. but imagine having a fuel card for that puppy. Frank
