Do Marlin 375's work well with cast ?

I have a Win94BB in 375 and this works really well with cast. I'm thinking about picking up a Marlin for use with a scope and wondering whether these work well with cast. If I'm not mistaken the twist rate of the Marlins is the same as the Winchesters (1 in 12"). If they have a fast twist and microgroove rifling then maybe they wont be ideal.

Views appreciated.

Check out Ranch Dogs site for the 375Win in a marlin.

My Marlin 375 seems to like cast boolits just fine, I am using the Lee379 and an old Ideal combination mould/ loader that casts a bit oversize, both shoot very well using SR4759 and ALOX lube.

Two different loads on that target, the group that is circled was 16 grs. SR4759 , I had a senior moment and messed the numbers up. I am wanting to get Ranch dogs mould and give it a try, his .35 mould works excellent in my Marlin 35 Remington and in my 357 Maximum.

I've had a pair of 375 Marlin's for a few years now !

I've also had a pair of Ranch Dog molds made exclusively for use in the 375 Marlin .

The first mold is a 379-210GC . This one has shot very well for me and I used it in my cast bullet 375 to kill a medium sized 7 point whitetail in the 2007 season . About that time Ranch Dog got the trial molds for his 379-235GC bullet out and I was able to try that bullet in the same rifle . Didn't kill a deer with it , but I shot alot of targets and it's a good bullet as well .

For the Micro groove barrel I size all my bullets at .379" and lube with Thompson's Blue Angel ! So far both my loads have used XMP5744 , but I have recently seen the virtues of water quenched bullets pushed with H322 , RL7 and Varget so perhaps I might give that a try in 375 (all my WQ has been done with the 444).

I've got a pair of Marlin .375s next to my 1972 production 95 with 8 groove Ballard they are my favorite Marlins.

I've never shot cast BOOLITS in either of them I have cases of WIN 250 gr PPS, thats all I've ever shot in them.

But my first Marlin is a 336T in .44 MAG, I've shot less than a box of facory jacketed bullets through it and probably between 1K and 2K of a VERY wide variety of cast boolits over the years. I don't find lead finickey or problematical in the microgroove. True, I tend to cast hard and am near relgiously fervent about gas checks, but the rifle shoots them all superbly. I just have never understood the fuss about micro and cast, I've never had a bad experience with it.

My '94 in .357 is a sweet shooter with cast boolits, never shot anything else in it. I would love to get a .41! Nice little rifles.

Of course I guess if you tried, you could screw it up, pure lead, no gas check, case full of 296 or H110 in either 44, 41 or 357?????????

I'd suggest cast harder than average, use gas checks, keep the powder charges reasonable and I doubt you'll ever have any problems.
