Well guys. Maybe we should test this. Does someone have something similar to list? Who has a LEE 6 banger for a popular caliber that they don't use? List it, and let us here know, so as not to bid on it. Let's see if it really gets bid out of sight. If it does, then maybe we've found our little pot of gold for all the unused casting stuff we have laying around.
I'm only into casting about a year, so I don't have any surplus molds. I had actually, though, thought about buying a duplicate from Midway or someone just to list on Ebay.

I went to Midway and checked to see if this mold was available, It is, say $51, new set of handles $32...= $83 NEW + ? $6.95 shipping
E-Bay mold w/handles = $127 USED + $7.95 shipping

USED $127
NEW $83

$44 for a used piece with no garuntee over new:confused: GO figure ....:veryconfu

I've been watching Lyman 429421's (.44 cal 249 gr. Keith style SWC) as I know what they go for, and they are common.
Of course they come in one, two, and four cavity sizes. I'm seeing used molds (just like you're seeing) going for more than retail new!
It is simply INSANE!
I know where I'm going to unload my despised Lyman 358477 mold...

That's twice what we have been paying for Group Buy molds. At least his shipping charge is more reasonable than most ebay sellers. In reading the ebay listing, the seller made no special claim for the mold and told why he was selling it. I counted 14 bids by 4 bidders after the price reached $50. My guess is that the winner will never use the mold. He just wanted to be the winner.

I think your exactly right. I blame the Dept. of Education. If you have inept individuals teaching you, chances are, reasoned thought will elude you most vigorously.

Dang I have one of those "RARE" treated 429 255 6 banger molds I would sell for that price, maybe even slightly less. His online store prices seem to be "cost plus" also.

The seller started the bidding at a fairly reasonable price and the listing seems like he is not some goof trying to rip anyone. The seller only ships to USA so this is not a foreign buyer. Again we have proof P.T. Barnum was correct that one is born every min.
