Ideally, if you can cast and have them drop at .452 or .453 you should be set! Minimal sizing usually is good for accuracy.

With that said.... I have a kimber 1911 and can shoot 452 or .454 boolits in it just as equally well.

I'd go with .452 myself (as I do with most of my 45acp stuff)

I'd recommend the RCBS 45-200 SWC mould.

+1 on what Blammer said. I load for three Kimbers, all from the custom shop and they all slugged at .452. Not quite as accurate as my old Giles, but good enough for my old eyes...

I want to slug my Ruger P345 barrel. I have some pure lead roundballs that would do the trick. My question is how do you do it. If I start the ball at the breech end what do I put the muzzle on so I don't beat the crap out of it?

oil the barrel and the boolit slug well, put the end of the barrel on a piece of wood, like a 2x4, and put an old Tshirt on that, should protect it well enough.

Lathesmith made me a .453" Star die for my 45's I like to size .001" to .002" over bore size. Just make sure the loaded round will chamber with ease, as the larger bullet in a tight chamber may not, you need a small bit of clearance so the case can release the boolit.

Thats kinda what I had in mind. I just wanted to make sure I don't screw up the crown of the barrel.

Thanks Blammer.

with that gun id want my bullets to run 452 sized so id want at least a 453 bullet so that you will avoid lube leaking by the bullet when sizing. that size isnt written in stone. Most of my 1911s like 452 bullets but it could be worth a try to size them at 453 too if you can still avoid the lube leaking crap.
