None of my loading books list a 45 Colt load using a 300 grain bullet. I got some bullets from Dan that I want to try in my Encore 45/410 barrel any suggestions?

Try 18 grains of 2400. I got very good accuracy out of a 4" revolver with it. Around 2" at 50 yds. I wouldn't stick this load in a Peacemaker though...

Check out the Hodgdon website, they have plenty of loads for 300 gr mostly with L'il Gun but should be OK for your Encore. The Hodgdon Annual Manual also has listings.

Nope I will be using 255 grain bullets and 8 grains of Unique or some simular recipe for my Uberti Cattleman. The 300 grain bullets I am trying out will only be for my Encore 45/410 barrel.

Are you looking for stompers, mid-range or other?

25 grains RL7, or 28 grains 680, both of which will keep the peak pressure under 30K cup while giving you TOP speed. ... felix

Just something that will push that bullet well with out being overly heavy.

My 310 grain cast load for a Bisley Ruger is 13.5 grains of Blue Dot and standard primer. Chronograph data puts it in the 1050-1100 fps range from the 7½" barrel. Empty cases drop from the cylinder but I suggest starting lower and work up. Each gun has it's own rules.
