I was checking some loads in the Bulldog this morning. The RCBS Keith at 260 grains over 6.3 of Unique was bearable, but not comfortable. The same bullet over 4.5 of Bullseye seemed a little easier to shoot and had the accuracy edge. The Lee 429 200 RF at 213 grains PC out of range scrap over 4.5 of Bullseye was quite comfortable, but shot four to five inches low at 12 yards. Got me to wondering if the Lee 429-215 SWC might not be closer to the sweet spot of shooting close to the sights while remaining controllable. If anyone has this mold, what diameter and weight is it dropping for you? Has it been accurate?

Drops at.431" & 216 grs. Different alloys will produce differend results. I add some linotype to my alloy.

Using 244 powder, the 240 is more accurate.

Accuracy- 4" @ 25 yards, from a rest. The 240 gr around 2 1/2" Win 244 Powder.

i have 2 Lee's, one is an old 2 cav that barely casts at .429 or less, and a newer 6 cav that drops a fat .431.These make a super accurate mid level 44 mag round.

Thanks for this conversation. I have one of the moulds in question, but have yet to cast with it. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has to say about it so I have an idea as to what to expect. I'll be trying mine out of my Blackhawk in 44 Special, and my Winchester 92 in 44 Magnum, but with special to mid-level loads. Im hoping it'll make some nice plinking bullets.

Thanks for the replies, fellas. Think I will try the mold with the intention of powder coating and sizing to .430 (because I don't have a .431). I've never had a bad one from Lee.

From your first post shooting WAY low. You need to increase the time in the barrel in order to come up. That means a heavier bullet. Or, a slower powder keeping the same charge. Or, cutting the charge on the Unique. 6.3 gr of AA5 with the 429421 which is close is the most accurate in all 5 of my Specials. And that charge works with any bullet weight from 200 - 265 gr. But …. group impact will be different. HS6 is almost as good with 6.5gr. It takes the 260 gr in my Bully.
