Question: If One were designing a hydraulic swage press, using an in-line cylinder, what minimum force is required?

depends on the alloy, soft lead, not a lot, hard lead, a lot more

It depends on what operations you’re planning on doing.
Premade jackets with soft lead 10 tons,for drawing jackets and lead wire most probably more.
I used a 20 ton hydraulic jack in a bearing press to draw lead wire and it works well.
