Some damn enabler on this site (Steve Urquell) got me thinking about wasp rice loads.

I went to Gunbroker looking for a sub-$350 beater in .38 Spl to play with. Found a new Rock Island M206 for $250 and figured what can I lose?

Then spotted a S&W 14-3 Targetmaster with 8 3/4" barrel for under $300. Bit of blue wear but not bad.

One of the guns I regret selling 20+ years ago was as 14-3 with 6" barrel...I know what great guns these are. A couple of years ago M&P Model 10's were going for $400.

The auction had less than 2 hours to run, so I bid $350. The place selling the M206's had 10 in stock so no risk of "losing" out. Well, I ended up winning the S&W!!!

Wasps are going to get HAMMERED!

Gloat much?

The only way you could have done better is if it comes with the wooden box, at least in my opinion.

I cannot remember the last time I saw a K-38 for $350.

I love my Rock Island 206. Only thing I did was swap out the overmolded rubber grips for smaller checkered wood grips from the Rock Island factory in part so my speed loader would work.

It is in a small space between the bed and a small 3 drawer bedside table/drawers setup. Out of sight, and mind and easy to find in the dark without having to move. Much more flexible peeking around corners than a Rem 870 12 ga with 30" barrel.

Still for that price you can't hardly call getting a S/W losing now can ya? Grin

I paid more than twice that for a k38 and have no complaints. May be time to put a little extra in the collection plate next Sunday.

I agree, a K frame Smith for $350.00 is a great buy these days. I haven't seen a Model 14 for sale around here for some time now. james

Frankly, I have been looking for one for a long time. Either they were beat up or more than I wanted to spend. I would have preferred a 6" barrel but at the price...well...I can always take a Harbor Freight hacksaw to it!!!

Don't need no stinking sights on a wasp gun

For what it’s worth I think you did great . That same enabler you speak of had the same effect on me , only difference is all I can think about is reloading some wasp loads and going wasp hunting!

In 2024 getting one off Gunbroker for that is quite an accomplishment.

Seven years ago I was trying to find a suitable donor for my faux Model 16 project. On GB I found a Model 14-3, six inch barrel and standard trigger and hammer (with grips by Goodyear). Since it had some blue loss on the barrel, it was priced at about $350 back then, and since I was going to replace the barrel and cylinder anyway, I took it. I bought this one seven years ago, so that price today, and on a nice long barrel… it sounds like a win to me!

Sounds like a good buy. Link to the auction? I wouldn't mind some eye candy and I'm a fan of k-38s

I do not want to get an infraction as I am under the impression that links to GB are not allowed.

I will post a couple of pictures when I get the gun.

You can also, copy the title of the sale listing and post that and give site name and let interested parties look it up them selves.

ie. I just won this auction on xte_Tax listed as "Joebobs rubber headed mallet whacker" have a look on xte_Tax if you are interested.
