Would any of you have a Star die catalog showing the largest size die Star offered to it's customers? Magma too for that matter. I am getting requests that leave dang little meat in the lube area.

I have 2 Star San Deigo sizers with sizing dies for several calibers from .225 to .454. According to an above post Magma made sizing dies up to .503. While working with .38 Spl. & .357 Mag. and wanting to use a .3585 cast boolit, I used a split .250 steel rod (split for about 1 1/2") and made a bob of emory cloth to enlarge a .357 Star sizing die to the desired diameter. It worked great for .357 Mag. & .38 Spl. but I found that a boolit that big wouldn't work in my 9mms. Fortunately, I had an extra .357 Star sizing die that would work with 9mm. So it is possible to enlarge Star sizing dies but I do not know the limits imposed by the smaller area of the sizing die that permits the lube to get to the lube grooves on a boolit. Big Boomer

I have a Magma .511 die myself. Not sure how much larger you can go.

I can’t recall where I saw it recently, but recall .55 as the maximum. I have seen them offered to .585 though.

2 months ago when Magma held their auction, I bid on a lot of the sizing dies and got them. I'm holding the largest one in my hand right now, and is it marked .519

Can you measure the outside diameter of the lube area vs. the inside diameter of the very bottom or exit of that sizing die? That would give us an idea of the thickness of the steel at the area where the lube holes are. Big Boomer

ID is .52 while OD is .70

.018"? That's does not seem like much! But if it works, that's all it takes I guess. Thanks for the info.

.70" - .52" = .180" or .090" per side wall thickness over the lube hole relief.
