Wondering how y'all are liking this boolit in either or both of these chamberings. I have the mold incoming along with the Lee .376 push-through sizer as the rifle is a Marlin 336 rebarrelled with a Douglas .375 barrel and chambered for the 2.08 brass. Seems like I ought to be able to get it to work.

Shoots very well in my 94 Chief Crazy Horse -- IMR 4198, RL7, Trailboss & Red dot on the lower end all lubed with Lars BAC. Mine drops them at 0.380 - 0.381" Actually this is one of my better functioning molds including higher end custom molds I own. Very few culls and they fall out of the cavities.

Thanks Mark. I haven't tried any of the Lars smokeless lubes, just the Swiss for black powder cartridge. Good stuff.

4759 if you are lucky enough to have some.(discontinued for the 2nd time) If not 5744 is the ticket. Next is Shooters world buffalo. Hodgon website should have listed data by now for 5744 if not pm me and i will send it to you. The 38-55 is magic with boolits .002 over size and these powders. Enjoy.

I cast this one, ww+sn. Drops .381 for use in 38-55 Cowboy conversion. I took a couple turkeys one year using Alliant 2400. WTD too.

I’ve had good results with that bullet as well. Imr 4198 and alliant 2400 and unique seem to work if you can’t find 4759 or 5744 or buffalo. Sized .379 or bigger in a 1980’s vintage model 94 Winchester.
Enjoy.

It’s the only mould I own for my Winchester/JES 38-55. Jess said to size them .377” so member Traffer made a push through sizing die for me. Thanks again!
I use PC and 23 grains of IMR 4198 for hunting deer, and LLA over 10 grs of Unique for play.
I have no complaints at all.

I know that I have not focused on accuracy, most of my shots are 50yards with open sights.

My 375 Winchester has been loaded with a number powders to include: Red Dot, universal, blue dot, 800x, 2400, varget, 4895,bl(c)-2, and 4350. The accuracy has always been about the same out to 100yards. 2-4inch groups is the norm. At 50 yards it is under 1.5 inches. Most of my cast loads are between 1000 and 1700fps and only shot to 100yards. It has been a fun gun to shoot. The Winchester bore on my rifle is said to be .375, all off the bullets have been Gas Checked and sized to .376. I don’t cast them myself-Matt’s Bullets 240grain gas checked or Hunters Choice 260 with Gas Check added by me. Starline 38-55 shorter length is the brass that I use. Most of my target loads are primed with Standard Large pistol primers or Large Rifle primers depending on the powder used.

Thanks fellas. Very encouraging. I have 5744 on hand, and 2400. Good Hodgdon data with 5744.

Do you use long or short brass in your Crazy Horse? I recently got delivery of the Starline long brass, just haven't loaded any yet.
Cast 50 bullets from the new mold yesterday, the few I measured were mostly .378-.379. They look nice.

I love my Henry single shot .45-70 and so hope they make one in .38-55 someday.

Thats a good blackpowder boolit - use in my O F Winchester 94 - FFFG blackpowder and a juice box wad over the powder

For my new model Win Sporter - 38-55.
An easy mold to cast with and makes great boolits. I powdercoat them and it is equally deadly on paper as well as HOGS. I cast about a BHN 11.3.

…..Wish it was more than 2 cavity.

The Lee mold is dropping a very nice bullet for me out of range scrap, running about 251 grains. I'll powder coat some of them and try them with 2400 and 5744.

I've had great results with this bullet in a couple of .38-55 single shots using 9.5 grs of unique.

love it in my JES 38/55. I shoot it over 4227 and dacron for about 1350 fps. It shoots as well as I can.
