I am having a hard time finding any reloading data for a 255grn rnfp bootlit in win38-55 -Henry rifle- using IMR4227. I called Hodgdon and they could not provide any information.
thanks

In what caliber? For which rifle or revolver?

4227 is too slow burning to work well in .45 Colt.

Lyman has 4227 data for .454 Casull.

My manuals show IMR 4227 in 45 Colt, but for jacketed only.

This is not load data, but should give you some idea of what to expect if you are inclined to work up your own load.

I adjusted a RCBS 250 FN to weigh 255, and picked an AOL for a 0.625" seating depth.

Cartridge : .38-55 Win.
Bullet : .375, 250, RCBS FN GC 37-250-FN
Barrel Length : 20.0 inch = 508.0 mm
Powder : IMR 4227

CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

It is a Quickload prediction. Predictions do not always match up well with actual published pressure test results.

However, if you have a chrono, and your loads match up with predicted velocities, then the pressure prediction info is probably pretty reasonable.

Larry, Ken Waters tome "Pet Loads" complete volume, lists 18 grains with Lyman bullet 375248, approximately 249 grains. He used Remington 9 1/2 primers, velocity 1340 fps. This load is for weaker action rifles, all Ballards, Stevens 44's & Tip Ups, Colt Lightning and Marlin 1881 Repeater.

This was the only data with that powder for the 3 action strengths that he provides data for. Page 451 if you can lay your hands on the book.

I looked in my old Lyman manual from around 1950 and it shows 17.0 grs of 4227 @1375 for boolet 375248 (250 grains) and 18.0 grains of 4227 for #375296 (265 grains). Tom
