I cast ingots at my club. If I had a dollar for every time somebody said, “Too bad that’s not really gold”, I could buy the real thing!
ETA: It occurs to me that if I did have real Redneck Gold bars, I could paint them silver and hide them in my casting alloy! Of course if I kicked the bucket untimely, some lucky caster might wonder why that bar of 95-3-2 just won’t melt.

Just finished the last season of Bosch where 5he bad guy ran a scam using wood painted gold to get investors interested.

Gold painted lead strikes me as more convincing (so long as some wise guy doesn’t test the density).

dondiego,if it were really gold, there would be $32 million in my shop! But, alas, just ww lead.
It was a joke between me and my fellow casting partner! I HAD to do it! Gave him one to put on his bench to look at!
Just having Fun!

I love it. I wish I had one of the lead ingots to paint and put on my living room mantle. james
