When I made my weights, I used anything I could get my hands on. Same when I worked casting Bluefish Drails. It all went into the pot.

I just picked up some tubes of lead the guy said came from ankle weights. They tested 7.8bhn. I smelted them with stickons and called them pure, for all practical purposes. I haven't got so addicted that I am willing to melt my dive weights yet. I still use them!

Mine were lino because I was a printer in those days. But they're becoming bullets now. After a while you're too old to dive, but not too old to shoot.

My son just moved home from Florida and gave me his dive weights. He did advise me not to go swimming with all of them unless in salt water and with a wet suit. No problem here! I will keep them in reserve in case I ever run out of lead.

Diving belt material is likle boat ballast and other unidentified scrap lead: it can be anything!
