Top left photo: Top left one-of-a-kind clip is most likely for an Austrian 1895 Mannlicher. Immediately to right, silver colored, may be for a 7.65mm 1891 Argentine. Brass colored clips look like they could hold ten 7 .62x39 round, probably SKS. Back to the left, the black clips look very like 6.5mm Dutch Mannlicher, but possibly French Berthier. I haven't seen them with the holes in the back. Silver colored clips look like standard 98 Mauser, hard to tell which country unless they have markings. Last, brass colored clips on bottom row are probably for M1903 Springfield.

Here's my two cents. :)

I've never seen any brass SKS strippers. Only black steel for 10 rds.
Them brass 5 rds strippers, if a 30-06 fits, they are likely for 1903A3...I had some of those come with bandoleers of WWII mil surp ammo.

DG,

Well said! I would have said the same thing, but you got it right from the get go. I wonder why the OP "picked up" these clips if he did not have a need? I have no need, as my stash is big enough already. LOL.

Be well.

The Austrian 1895 Mannlicher clips sell for a pretty penny on Fleabay. I still have a partial case of 1938 Nazi 8x56r ammo, 10 rounds on two clips in a box that looks like a cigarette box.

maybe thus is a silly question. but, if you don't know what they are for; why did you buy them??

Like some of the things I have gotten in the past and had no use for, they were in a box that had some stuff I COULD use.

I got them because..............
Thought it would make a nice "what is it" here.
Never know when I might get a rifle that fit them.
They were cheap.
Might work with a rifle I already have.
Because I'm a little strange.

Nothing strange about it, in my book. I'd have bought them too if they were cheap enough. That's why I go to gun shows - to look around and find oddball things to buy.

As already ID'd, the top left single clip is for an 1895 Austrian Mannlicher, the ones directly below it are Dutch Mannlicher, and the silver ones in the bottom middle are early Argentine Mauser, I believe. The brass ones in the lower right corner lok like early 1903 Springfield, and the longer ones in the upper right sure look like C96 Mauser "broomhandle" clips.

The silver/aluminum looking ones in the upper middle, I'm not familiar with. The lugs look too close together to be Mauser or 1903. I'm not a serious collector, so there's an awful lot I don't know.

Many of those will interchange with other rifles if you are just looking to strip some rounds in while plinking.

Whenever I get stuff in a box lot that I can't use, I feel obligated to buy a rifle that will use it. You don't want to waste them.

How in the world do you know that?

Had sometime to look at them better.
The silver ones are for a 7.5 Mas.
One of them was stamped on the back.
The m95 is easy. 8X56r
Right top M14?????
Holds 10 rounds.
Below that one looks like 1903 Springfield.
The ones to the left of them have no markings, the back side is flat, no ribbs.
Maybe for an 8mm Mauser 98k????
Shell rim fits perfect.
The last one is a mystery to me, but some kind of Mannlicher action.

Like when I bought a boolit mould before I bought my 591 so’s I could shoot squirrels [emoji2537] with lead. Didn’t get it converted to 5 mm Craig though. [emoji24]

I thought it looked like one for a Carcano?

I still have a set or two of dies that I hope to someday have a gun for. I just love those surprise boxes. Once bought a box of stuff, just for the old wooden Winchester ammo crate .

Do the top right clips hold 30-06/8mm Mauser size rims? I would have sworn they were Broomhandle Mauser clips, but if they're bigger than a 9mm/7.62x25 base, then they wouldn't be.

The reason I said that the lower middle clips with the flat back look like early Argentine Mauser clips (7.65 Argentine) was because I had some once that looked just like that, and that's what they were.

The last ones, the mystery Mannlicher clips, are too curved to be Carcano clips. I have several sitting on my desk in front of me. Do a google image search for "Dutch Mannlicher clips", and I think you'll see what they are. :)

The top right do hold 30.06.
To big for 9mm.
I think have an Argentine Mauser someplace.
I'll see if they fit.
The last ones do look like the "Dutch Mannlicher clips".
Now all I have to do is find one of those to try them in.
