We had my buddy for almost 15 years and it was time for him to go. It is not the first time, but man, why does it never get any easier...

They take a piece of you with them when they go. Sorry for your loss of the best friend you ever had.

Yeah, that sucks man. I've had to put two friends down in the last few years. Never gets easier, that is for sure. Pets deserve to live forever, that's a fact.

Very sorry for your loss. I dread the day Ruger's time is up. Great Pyrenees in my avatar. Been my best friend after the divorce.

Yes, we got three Great Pyrenees as well. While they don't listen to anything (almost...), they have amazing personalities.

Thank you all for your support!

Tom,

My heart goes out to you and the family. Dogs never cease to amaze me and I love them from the bottom of my heart. The unconditional love and support they have for their owners, can't be matched.

My dog is turning ten this year. It's sad to think that the time I will have with her is less than the time I have had with her.

Yes
Their souls will meet us one day.
Gonna be a lot of barking in Heaven.
I hope I meet Amelie, she was one dumb beagle.

Sorry for your loss. I have outlived 2 wonderful dogs since retiring in 1996 and now I have Blue Heeler, Nikki, who is age six. It seems we will both exit about the same time in 5 or 6 years. If I erred in the past, it was I often waited too long for the LAST trip over the hill to the vet's office for the final injection.

Right after I graduated from Seminary in 2008, I was asked by a neighbor to do a funeral service for a deceased and much-loved pet dog. I did the service per The Book of Common Prayer for both the dog and the grieving family's benefit.

Pets do become part of our family and there is real loss felt when they end their too-short lives. My Vet explained about dog life spans. It seems bigger dogs have a shorter life expectancy than smaller and mixed breed dogs. I think dogs go too soon, in any case. My two loyal hounds rest here on my farm where I will one day rest beside by buddies.

Be well.

My back yard is full of the dogs and cats we’ve had over the years. I long ago learned to dig before we go to the vet. It is easier without the tears. My condolences to you.

If dogs don't go to heaven, I want to go where they go.
Sorry for your loss.

They're like kids except they learn faster , cost less , and only break your heart once .
