Aperture Sight Internal Thread Protector?

I have a Marbles Tang sight for my Winchester 92, and it has several inserts. My eyes prefer the sight without the insert though. Is there a very thin insert with a very large opening that would basically be an inside thread protector/thread cover? Not because it's needed... just for looks when handling the gun, I don't see the threads when sighting.

I've never seen anything like it, or heard of it.

Ya might try looking around at Brownell's.
They do--or did have everything available for tang & apature sights.

I've never seen one either, but it wouldn't be too big of a job to drill one out to match what you're looking for. (Pun intended)

Take a look at skinner peep sights. They list a .155" rear sight in their accessories area.

Can be done a couple ways 1) make a new one thats what you want, 2) drill out an existing on to the size you want. Not a big job with the right tools but would be easy to crush in a vise. 3) use it as is

Send me a pm with the threads, pitch and dia, length, and what you want Ill turn one up for you. It wont take long but alot of these sights used "special" threads some were 7/32 36. WIll be happy to help you out.

I appreciate the thought Wayne. I havne't a clue about thread size, I'll have to look up what size they use, since I don't have a way to measure it.

Most big, old school hardware stores have a row with dozens of pull out trays for the odd screws, washers, clips, etc.
They should have one called 'gun screws'.

It will have all the fine thread/unique screws like 6-48 and sizes ya only find on scope mounts, and things like that.
As a last resort, take the part there and match it up.

Midways says its a 10 32 thread Measure inside dia of your eye piece it should measure around .156 or so. for the inside of the thread. Then I need the length to fit the aperture. Thickness of the eyepiece. You can measure the inside with your calipers inside jaws. DO you want 1/2" or 3/4" dia eye piece. I can probably do a .100 hole for you.

They very well may be 10-32 (.19"ish dia). Usually peep apertures are 12-40 or 7/32-40 (.21"ish dia). Some of my Skinner sights extras that fit in my Lyman, Redfield, Williams and of course the Skinner peep sights, but I've also found the marbles listed at 10-32. Should be easily checked for dia to see which one you have.

I think the aperture threads were 7/32 x 40. Could probably be confirmed (or denied) by web searching for that. And, I think Brownells offers (or offered) a 7/32 x 40 tap for the aperture mount.

Also, I think (saying that a lot lately :roll: ) that Williams offers (or used to offer) a full diameter aperture insert, i.e. the full inner diameter of that threaded tube.
