I am wondering about shorter length 300 Blackout specific magazines. I am shooting 225 grain powder coated lead bullets through a Ruger American Ranch Rifle. My rifle has the magazine well to accept standard AR-15 magazines.

I think standard COAL for the ar 15 is 2.62

These are the two I'm looking at from gun mag warehouse.

I want the mags to not stick out so far from the bottom.

I like short mags too.
They also keep you from shooting up all your ammo so fast.

*LOL* I just put 5 rounds in the mag and don't worry about how much hangs down underneath!

I would go with the Lancers. The magazine is a pretty important piece of a semi auto. I have zero confidence in Duramag or Promag quality. Also, try to find physical dimensions in the advertising. Many 5 and 10 round magazines are just standard 20 round mag bodies blocked to lower capacity.

I use 10 round Pmags.

10 Round Pmag for range unmodified for 5.56 and 300, when you get into big pills on the 300 you need to file/sand but no big deal. And then there are the ten rounders I have modified for my hunting 450BM/458, they have worked flawlessly for me!

I use 10 rnd Lancers but have a single shot mag also. Actually just blocks the mag well and you drop one in the ejection port.

I use the 10 round Lancers, in my 7.62x39 AR the 10 round dur mags work great

Actually the standard 223/5.56 OAL length is 2.26 so an apparent transfer of numbers in the 2.62 number.

The P mag can give you 2.30 in length due o a different method or build. So the RN and flat nose bullets give you a bit of extra base to the bottom of the neck in internal fit. The AR-15 lower frame is designed for this magazine length box.

I have a bunch of five shot magazine for AR-15s. So there are plenty of five shot magazines avalible.

It's kinda labor intensive, but it is possible to reduce the length of existing magazines...I have done so with a 6.5 Grendel magazine for my ruger American. Helped enormously with how carry-able it is!
