My brother and I went into a local Bimart store in town right next to ours. Kinda in the liberal part of town. I’m guessing the shooting/reloading supplies don’t get hit as hard here. I e never even been into this store before and I’ve lived here my whole life. Close to 50 years. So if you’re living in the PNW you may be familiar with the Bimart store chain. I have never even seen an eight pounder of powder in a Bimart before. We walk into this store today and behind the shelf I see two eight pound kegs of W296. I asked the clerk the price. It took him a bit to get back to me. Apparently someone had special ordered it sometime ago and never picked it up. We happily paid the price and walked out with both jugs for $119.99 each. 323520

I've been making smaller scores on powder too. 2 pounds of Herco, 3 pounds of 846 and 2 of Win 231 last week ($90). This wed. the same guy is bringing me a bunch of wheel weights and other lead. He has told me to sort through it and take whatever I could use then give him back the junk for recycling. I occasionally give him a bunch of .30 cast bullets for plinking with his 03a3. When he gets stuff from friends who are getting out of reloading, I get first dibs on whatever he picks up. He gives me good deals on things. A month ago, he gave me a coffee can full of new cleaning brushes, Hoppes, barrel swabs, cleaning rods and other small stuff. He sells a lot of stuff at flea markets and anything he doesn't want to bother with, he gives to me or at least offers it at some crazy low price, including brass for any caliber that I reload.

Congrats. Now you need 5000 primers to set that off!

Better take out a loan.

I am a little curious how y’all plan on burning 16 lbs of W296?

Am happy for the OP as well - that is a great deal certainly; but W296 would be a head scratcher for me too. I have over 10lbs myself, and am honestly wondering how I can use it up since I have plenty of more flexible powders. Have 4 or five 44Mag rifles, but don't need very many max loads. Have always thought I might be able to.trade it off locally.

Yeah ,296 is problematic...........I still got a jug from 1973 when I bought a Win 44-40 ................ive figured a way to use it up ,but its a mixed load with TrailBoss .......12gr of 296/12gr of TB .............yeah ,I know ,dont mention it ,ever.............coming out is fashionable, just never say you use duplex loads.

My issue with W296 - it makes a big fireball with 357 Magnum or 44 Magnum with light bullets. It's pretty noisy too.

4 lb jugs in the photo...
$30 per pound but still a good score!

Useful in a 410 shotgun or a 300 blackout too.

Ah... I didn't look closely at the photo... just was referring to the OP: "...I see two eight pound kegs of W296... We happily paid the price and walked out with both jugs for $119.99 each.

either way.... I hellava good deal!!!

Those are both positives in my book.

It’s also perfect for the .30 Carbine.

In my stash of powder there is one 8 pound jug of 296, also 2 big jugs of H110; I have no use for either and why I bought them is still unknown, just to slow for anything but 44 mag and other mag cases, none of which I own..I once used H110 in my BH 45C but found shooting those big power loads not to my liking..gret powders though fo anyone shooting big mag cases..Congrads to the OP for a great score and greater price!

I like it alot in my 44 or especially the 357...cast. Recently been putting loads together in 222 and 7TCU...The 7TCU responds very well indeed!!

That is a great price. Since 296 is the same as H110 you have twice the loading data.
