I shot a few rounds through the new to me 1909 Argentine. The 12 grains of RedDot and a 314299PB shoot pretty good. On this rifle the lowest sight setting was 200 meters and they are still pretty low at 50 yards. I also tried 46 grains of WWII surplus 4831 with a 314299GC. Those had a a lot of unburnt powder on the snow and bad vertical stringing. I tried 5 more standing the rifle up at each shot and smack the stock a few times, those shot much better. I need to research this out a little more and would like to find a 4831 load (as I have quite a bit of it) that is safe in a 09 as well as the 91.

The 1891 Argentine likes the 12 grains of RedDot and a 314299PB, the lowest sight setting is 300 meters and its right on with a 6 o'clock hold at 50 yards. I chronographed these last time out and they are running 1,437fps Avg, ES 17.4 and SD 8.5.

If your going to shoot in the snow what better than a Swiss Vetterli. I have a couple of these and they are such good old shooters. I call this my "Chiefs Grade" Vetterli. It came out of a family cabin on Holter lake. The old gentleman that sold it said it had hung above the fireplace for as long as he could remember. The tacks are brass but have a heavy patina that turned them black.

Cheers
