So got my first SS payment this month, so I'm now and old fart.
I did wait until I maxed out, hoping I would stay young as long as possible.
Feels old to be old.

I came to that realization the other day too.
I was reading and noticed the words were blurring. I thought my contacts were dirty so I went and cleaned them. Still blurry.
Then I noticed the farther away I held my book, the clearer the words got.
So I made an eye doctor appointment. I need reading glasses.
My wife thinks it's hilarious. But she's only 4 years younger than me so she'll be there soon. Happens to all of us I guess.

I started calling myself an old man after I turned 25. That's when all my prior youthful stunts starting causing knee pain and back pain.

Getting old is better than the alternative…

This is the one I use to prod myself ahead!

(But the aches and pains try to talk me out of that thought pattern)

Turned 73 last year and started a little side business. Keeping active and engaged is important. I see people who do nearly nothing and they go downhill fast.

It’s just a number. The important thing is your heart, mind and soul. I am almost 67 but enjoy the same things as when I was a young lad.

At your age you are not close to being an old F--- I am an old F--- and feel like one too! Enjoy that check.

A shooting buddy and I went to The Big City (around these parts, that's known as Abilene) and went to eat at Golden Corral. His treat. When we went to the register, he told the girl "Two Seniors". I started to rebut, but then I came to the cold realization he was correct. Was a bit of a jolt!

You come into the world bald & toothless, and the damning thing is you mostly go out the same way!

I felt old when I got dentures.

Just wait until the reenactors show up, and you go over and ask what they are doing and they tell you they are reenacting your very own unit's battles in Vietnam. So you introduce yourself, and a young squirt tells me , "you are a part of history." I had to walk off on that one....me, a part of history...hum, well I guess that we are all a part of history one way or the other, because yesterday is always history, today.
But it never strikes you, as a Vietnam Vet, the same soldier that got spit on coming home and in airports, that anyone would study your battles and actually celebrate the battles, by reenacting those battles, near 60 years later. That revelation caused a rainbow spectrum of feelings, experienced, all at one time, one was of being very old.

I'm past where I CAN get it, but not yet at "full retirement age" though according to my countdown clock that is only 150 days away. I bought that thing to countdown to the year 2000 and it still runs. But I can't program any date in it after 2024 so I can't set it to count down to 70.5 which is the last significant date in my life.

In staff meetings I am the one person who is not sitting there looking at their cell phone. I have actually forgotten to turn it on for as many as three days straight

When this subject came up awhile back a member here stated that if he woke up in the morning, and nothing hurt----
he needed to check his pulse.

Just retired last year much better than working 6 days a week. Don't care what the weather does anymore . I just wish my body didn't have to hurt so much.

I started feeling old when I had trouble getting up from the floor. I started collecting SS a few years ago. Guess what I can still get up! Keep working as long as you can. You won't last long in a chair.

I started feeling old when I had trouble getting up from the floor.

I thought that just happened to me mainly because I'm one of the 'full figure girls' and about 40-50 pounds over weight.
I can still get up on a open surface, but it sure is easier if I can hold onto something.

And once I'm down on the ground, before getting up, I ask myself,
'Is there anything else I need to do since I'm already down here'?

I tell people that researching so called man caused climate change is a waste of resources! We should be investigating to discover whether gravity is getting stronger!

It sure seems that way to me!

Congrats on being alive and well to get the Social Security payment!!! My only real disappointment is when I brush my teeth every morning. (Yup :) :) I still have MY chompers!) and see this old guy's image in the bathroom mirror. But, I reckon that's why our eyes are inside our head and we may only see "out". In thoughts I'm fifty years younger -- 25 or so.
Enjoy the days!

I glory in my curmudgeon status.

If you can, retire sooner than later. Just make sure you have stuff you like to do to keep you busy, things (or places or people) you look forward to. Keep on learning. Keep on experiencing the new, while savoring the old.

Congrats on your first SS ck ol’phart. Now get ready for the high life. Maybe? I retired 12 years ago and went back to work part time a year ago. It’s hard but it’s good for me. A word to the wise, stay active and out of that recliner, it will kill you. If you’re not shooting you should be moving is not just a combat strategy.

I renewed my driver's license the millennial girlie said
"You're not blond"
"Yes, I am"
"No, you are bald with grey"
Cheeky thing put Grey on my new license. Who said she could?
New AZ license is a black and white picture, I had my quarantine beard, glasses, doesn't look like me.

My brother says he looks forward to standing on his porch and yelling at imaginary kids to get off his lawn. I'm 70 and am enjoying retirement a lot.
