$56.00 is correct Lamar.i was going to run a group buy on both but there are only 11 votes for the other boolit on the poll up top.if it gets alittle more interest in that one maybe i will end up doing it too.

here is my address so people dont have to PM me

I have an original 2 cavity LBT mould to cast a .44 265 WFN but sure like the production capacity of this mould.

I think that part of the problem here is that I am not sure what you guys decided and are buying.

If you would post a picture of the winning drawing, then you might garner some more interest. There were so many posts and so many bullets in the last thread, I said I would wait and see what shook out.

So what did?

Hi!

I haven't been on the boards for a while and this thread definitely caught my attention!

Please tell me more about this mold! I've been wanting to get into a a heavier bullet for my .444 and I'm assuming that this is what this mold is for!?!

What does the $56 get one?

Thanks!

Not too bad for just over a month. Some, like the .30 caliber customs, will go faster because there are obviously more potential customers out there with a .30 they need to feed.

I'm sure we'll be able to scare up 10 or more buyers for this run in due time.

It would have been tough for me to get into both of these buys this quickly. I'm ready for one, hence my jumping on the band wagon on the RD. I hope this one flies eventually too! I'll get on this one if it's still available say about mid summer.

Thanks for the effort Jeff! :)

Dutch4122

It's been almost 2 months since this design was opened up for orders. At this point I would say let it ride until after the Ranch Dog group buy has come back to you from Lee and you have distributed those molds.

Once you are done with that one we can then tally up the total number we have for the "Fat 44" and figure out how much each of us needs to kick in extra for covering the setup fee of $100.

Then you can send it in to Lee so that those of us who want this boolit can have what we signed up for.

By the way, we're still interested in an as cast diameter of .434" right?

this buyer list has gone down some but i had a couple of guys bail out to get in on the Ranch Dog deal.they told me they were going to get back in on this deal again so the number will be back up around 10 or 11

down the road we must look at this deal and figure out if we want to end it.for another 8 or 9 dollars each we could send the deal in and have Lee run the order for us.this might be the way for us to go.its all up to you guys that ordered.i kind of wanted one of each of these molds from these group buys and im willing to wait for awhile yet.maybe with the close of the Ranch Dog bullet mold deal this one will pick up some

what do you guys think?ideas please

also if the deal was talked up on the other forums it might take off.it doesnt hurt anything to spread the news of this group buy around on the net.make sure you have them come and check things out here at castboolits.gunloads.com.i could use the help

thats good.im glad there is some interest in this mold still.we can let it run for a long time if you guys want too.i have a Ranch Dog mold comming so that will cover me.i got to shoot a few of those boolits from the Ranch Dog mold and they shoot very good for me.i shot them from a super 14 445 supermag Contender.i think this Beartooth bullets will shoot just as good.this TC barrel seems to like cast boolits unlike my 357max barrel.i may put my Lee 6 holer 180gr 357cal boolit mold up for sale.im going to give it one last chance at shooting cast boolits

The more I look at it the more I like the design. Im fairly new to casting your own as already stated but is this a LBT design??Has anyone had previous experience with this boolit?? Gotta a pretty big flat nose Im wondering how it would chamber in my Rossi 92? I need this bullet diamater for my overbored Rossi(.432) and think I may getting the cash sooner than I thought. Is this mold going in as .433 or .434?? .434 may even work better for me I dont know??

I'm sure you'll get a few more on this one. Seems from reading previous posts that a lot of guys really wanted both this one and the Ranch Dog .44 tumble lube mould. Time seems to be on our side at least until the other order comes in from Lee. Hopefully those who said they will send in a second check to cover this deal after switching over to the Ranch Dog .44 will keep their word plus we'll get a few more new orders as time goes by.

Who knows, we might make it to 25 orders yet! :)

WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK?

maybe we should post a deadline date on this to force a few others in on this deal?its doesnt really matter one way or the other to me as i have a Ranch Dog mold comming and the boolits shoots good for me.i would be kind of fun to play around with both of them though

this Wednesday 4-26-06 i am going in for knee replacement surgery and will be off line for awhile so you guys can hash this out while im gone.i will check in again tomorrow and on Tuesday just to see whats going on

For me , I could wait .
But there seems to be little more intrest , so a deadline would be a good idea IMO

But a extra $12 or $13 would be fine also .
If the masses want to send it off short of 25 .

Hope the knee replacement works out good .
Are you going to get a vidio of the surgery ?

Jeff-

1st off I'd like to commend you for all of your patience in dealing with this group buy "Fat .44" project. You have gone above and beyond the call while trying to set this up along with the other "Ranch Dog .44" buy.

If there are 8 of us who have actually sent in checks and stayed with the deal since this group buy opened on 1-25-06 then I would say it is time to get this thing done. Say the word and I will send you a check for $13 to cover my end of the set up fee tomorrow if you'd like. Waiting around for others to get back in who bailed out to go for the other design is getting to be old.

I really didn't mind waiting for a few others to get back in, but If they are not steady sending in checks then lets set a deadline. Since your knee surgery is this coming Wednesday I'd say it'll be at least a month (if not longer) before you'll be able to do much more with this. Why not set a deadline for one month after your surgery to send the order in. If that don't get the stragglers to send in checks then I would say they were never really serious in the first place.

Then those of us who have sent in our money for this design and have been waiting patiently can get what we wanted all along. Like I mentioned above it is getting a little old waiting for others to get back in after switching their order; as well as waiting for some to actually send in a check that they promised months ago.

Best of luck with your knee surgery. A friend had both of his done last year and I can tell you the recovery and therapy was painful and tough, but worth it to him.

Take care,

jeff223

Jeff,

Good luck with the surgery! My father in law is getting both of his knees replaced May 15 so we understand what bad knees can be like!

I'll probably be bowing out of this deal with a June 1st deadline and an extra $13 to boot. July 1st might have been realistic for me, but I've already spent all my 'play' money through May...The local Hobby Town went out of business last month and I dipped into the savings too hard for all the 'great savings!' Has anyone done any work with this boolit? I finally cast some up yesterday. They drop at .435 and weigh 283 gr naked. I have some loaded up over AA2520 for my 444, but will not get to test them until next weekend. I had to crimp in the front groove because of the non existent throat on my '94.

I've shot this boolit in my Marlin 1894SS .44 Mag. Sized to .433" Worked up a load with H4227. They weigh 280 grns with my wheelweight alloy lubed and checked.

I had to crimp them in the front crimp groove to get them to feed. I don't think that OAL was causing the boolit to kiss the lands. Accuracy was "ok" but I think that once I get the lifter modified to handle the longer OAL I'll be able to get a better alignment before ignition. Lube capacity for longer barrels is excellant with this one as I had a nice lube star forming on the muzzle with Lar45's carnauba red lube.

In all I'm very happy with this boolit. As velocity approached 1500 fps out of the 1 turn in 38" twist Marlin the groups begain to tighten up and I think it's only a matter of "tweaking" the load in my .44 carbine.

Haven't tried it in my USRAC Black Shadow .444 yet.

Hope this helps,
