Oh! I almost forgot. If you have an Android phone you could use WAZE, which I use and like very much. It's available for free download. You give an address and it gives you voice directions or written directions. It also has a moving map.

Here's the computer version.

And here's the phone app, although I recommend the Play Store for the download; it's easy and more convenient.

Waze app will run your phone battery down very quickly

I've not had that problem in trips of one to several hours duration.

That is an understatement...

I can't understand why. Tomorrow I'm making a trip of approximately 200 miles, with WAZE. I'll leave with a fresh charge, and use the phone all day with an electronic target system. I expect to return home with more than 50% charge remaining. We'll see.

well, for $400.00 i'll stick with my GMC gps system. i did wise up a couple years ago. before going someplace unknown; i goggle it on the computer and get a map of where i'm going. (if i remember to do so)

The trip was 90 miles each way. WAYZ used 10% of phone battery capacity on each leg. What's wrong with that?

You can use WAZE for free. If you don't like it, just delete it from your phone. As you can see, it is conservative of battery life. Also, if your GMC has built-in GPS, it probably also has a USB charging port.

My wife and I both use Waze app and have the same results as Tatume. If you battery is week just use a car charger for phone when you travel. This isn't rocket science!
