The only I've found for 12mm show a case body .610 long. I know they liked to hang big boolits out back then but with a cylinder 1.410" long I struggle with that length

Could you do a chamber cast? Are you looking for brass, or thinking of having some made?

Charger 1,

Neat looking old piece.

Question: What is the make of the revolver?

I looked up a 12mm cartridge in Cartridges of the World 6th Edition and in Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversion and found a very few cartridges that come close to 12mm. None are designated 12mm. Have you slugged the bore? If so what diameter do you get?

The cartridges I found that were close are the 11.75x36 Montengrin (11mm Austrian Gasser {Short}), and 476 Eley (476 Enfield Mk II). Both can be made from existing cases.

If you can post more info on the firearm, possibly someone (myself included) may be able to help you out.

As foolish as it is. I dont have in hand yet just wanted to see dimensions in hopes of finding commercial brass which needed the least fiddling to work, but your right I'll have to wait to cast I suppose

Charger 1,

FWIW, if the chamber (when you have gun in hand) is about .77" long for the brass, it may well be a Webley Mk II which has a case that can be made from .45 Auto Rim.

Some time back on this forum, I think, someone posted sources of cartridge dimensions. I apologize that I did not save the source page for the first 5 lists of dimensions. They are hard enough to use in any case. All dimensions are metric, so get out your calculator. They include chamber dimensions also. The last one is easier to use, just not so extensive.
