My girly-girl sweet grandaughter age 14 killed her first deer this afternoon. Hunting with daddy and shooting a .243 she made a quartering away shot at 80 yds. Got bloodied too. 322015

Great! Congratulations to this young lady!

Just wondering how many remember the ritual of some blood on the face for a first deer! :D

My daughter has used her Remington 700 .243 to take several deer.

You just wrecked her cause she’s hooked for life…and with my favorite caliber! After all the Internet hype about how 243s don’t work on deer. I took mine out a few seasons ago and dropped a deer with my little 1967 Remington 600 like Thors hammer hit it. Never even flinched! It was exactly comparable to my 35 Remington with 200 grain hollow points at 2100 ft./s…Shazam! I was using a 90 grain Nosler ballistic tip. Broke though both shoulder blades at 18 yards and rated under the hide.

What bullet or boolit did she use?

...my first rifle was a 243, that Papa gave Daddy and Daddy gave to me.....
My second youngest received that, and he has made good on his heritage for several years now.

Great pic. Nothing better than “first deer” pics. I have one with each of my kids. Looking forward to grand kids getting little older. And one more thumbs up for the 243, my very favorite deer round in bolt action.

that's great! I took my daughter squirrel hunting back in 1995, she was 12. She had a great time, and loved the experience, UNTIL she told her friends about it! They just said: " that's just not cool!" At 12, that made an impact. Hope this doesn't happen to this young girl!

Congrats to the pretty young lady! Better get a hickory stick about 3 feet long and 2" around. You'll need it to keep the boys away!

Thanks for posting the pics grandpa. My grand daughter is 16 and the two of them could pass for twin sisters.

Congratulations young lady! I remember my daughter's first deer. She no longer hunts, but we cherish the memories we made together in the deer stand and turkey woods.
