Was wondering if anyone knows what degree the forcing cone is on a 686 no dash.

I shoot only cast loads and was thinking of cutting it to 11 degree.

Most Smiths are cut to 8°. Cutting the cone to 11° would cause you to have to cut it wider to remove all of the previous forcing angle. Wide enough you likely would be too thin between the outside of the barrel and the forcing cone. There is a spec for that, how much meat is left, though I can't recall what it is.

Exclusively shooting cast is no reason to cut your forcing cone... having a problem with leading or inaccuracy would be a good reason though. I only shoot cast in my wife's 686, and it shoots pretty decent. I've cut several 1 1/2 groups with it at 25 yards. Course... I guess that's not great either, but it shows potential.
