They seem like kind of small bullets to me, but I have cast up some of the Lee 140 grain 6.5 bullets to fool with in a bolt action. Fiddling around with a ballistics calculator suggests that on paper this could result in a 100 to 150 yard deer load if I can get accuracy and 2000 FPS. I don't need or especially plan on hunting with this bullet in my Grendel, but it did make me wonder if anyone has tried using a 6.5 bore in cast to take deer. Anybody? I mostly intended this to be a target proposition if I can get it to shoot, although I suppose I could try taking it beaver hunting one night.

I hope to make it a regular load in my 6.5x55.

No reason it shouldn’t work. There’s a few of us on here shooting cast in the 270 Winchester and it’s just fine. 150 grain boolit for me at about 1500fps.

I killed a couple bucks with my Swede at around 1700 fps. Damage was more than sufficient for the job. Both were at around 50 yards. The key is a nice wide nose.
