I take this scope off when shooting out past 400 yds. as it's got enough elevation in the mounts for 400 yds., but not further distances. Just shot the Hepburn in October at our long range shoot, so put the scope back on it yesterday.
I bought this scope for $75 at a gun show with one chipped lens, and crosshairs that looked like two caterpillars mating inside. It was also polished up like a new penny, and I'm not a fan of polished brass on scopes or guns. So I dug through my old parts scopes and found a suitable lens that just needed slight reduction in diameter to fit. Carefully polished the outer diameter, and got the crosshairs replaced with some .005" tungsten wire I had. Cleaned it inside and out, and used brass black to darken the outside finish. I had a old pair of Winchester mounts and bases that I used to fit on my Hepburn. It was originally about 4x I believe, but the lens I used raised the magnification to maybe 6x or so?
