Well, I'll start off by apologizing if this is the wrong forum, but after reading on rpm limits, gas checks, and powder coating I figure I could use all the help I can get.I just bought a tikka t3x in .223 and I'm wanting to swap the barrel. I've been reloading for years and would like to get into casting. Low pressure subsonics sound like a fun round to tinker around with different alloys, molds etc. For a 16 inch barrel what twist rate would you guys recommend for a 200-250 cast, possibly powdercoated bullet?

Welcome on your first posting
I would use a 350 Legend with .358 barrel
Lyman 358315 or 358318, or 335009.
Twist rate would be 1 in 14 depending on elevation
Velocity from 1200 to 1000 also depending on elevation

Again, welcome
Mike

p.s. same for Blackout but harder to get that heavy of bullet in a .308 bore

My 16” AR had 1:9 twist, rest are all short barrels to match pistol gas tube.
You shouldn’t have any trouble in a bolt gun except for mag length restriction unless single loaded.
300BLK is optimal for heavy bullets subsonic suppressed.
