I’m looking for a disk for my Lyman 48 sight.

A Merit adjustable Hunter would be ideal. 4SS 7-32 (I think)
(I’ve called and Emailed Merit - no answer)

Let me know what you have.

any Lyman, Redfield, Williams, etc. are threaded the same -

I found a few manufacturers of adjustable aperture peep sights. Here are some of them:

William’s Gun Sight Company: William’s Gun Sight Company is one of the oldest companies in the firearm industry, with over 90 years of experience in designing and developing sights to make firearms more accurate. They offer a range of peep sights, including the FP, 5D, and WGRS peep sights, which are designed to improve accuracy for hunters and target shooters. They also offer fiber optic gun sights, which collect ambient light and emit a brighter sight picture on the end of the fiber optics 1.

Montana Vintage Arms (MVA): MVA offers “Hadley-style” eyecups, which are selectable-aperture eyecups for black powder cartridge rifle tang sights 2.

Lee Shaver Gunsmithing: Lee Shaver Gunsmithing offers “Hadley-style” eyecups, which are selectable-aperture eyecups for black powder cartridge rifle tang sights 2.

Kelley Sights: Kelley Sights offers “Hadley-style” eyecups, which are selectable-aperture eyecups for black powder cartridge rifle tang sights 2.

Davide Pedersoli: Davide Pedersoli offers “Hadley-style” eyecups, which are selectable-aperture eyecups for black powder cartridge rifle tang sights 2.

Merit was moribund for years, yet the website stayed up. Several years ago, a former Merit man, name of Ed Grant, restarted production of the iris eyepieces, but did not start up the site. You have to call him to order. Use the site to get your part numbers and call Ed at 518-763-3011 to place your order. I did this and was asked to mail him a check. The sight disks I received were genuine Merits.

Nueces - thanks for the rest of the story. I was told I could order one but the old site and number did nothing.

Schutzen-jager- I will look up some of the ones you mentioned.

Thanks,

Paul
