I have to say it has a couple imperfections but overall I am very happy with it. I am still awaiting the true moment of truth when I hit the range with it but it feels great in hand and is every bit the equal of the Ruglins I have handled. The stock fit is the biggest flaw I see320709320710320711320712320874

Congratulations. I don't see anything wrong with the stock. If you mean it being a bit proud where it meets the receiver, that's actually traditional for the wood to be about 1/32 proud on Winchesters, they did that since constant field use would bring the wood flush in short order.

Congrats, I have an older one.
Is definitely high in the fun factor category.

Yeah, I didn't see any issue with it either... until I seen the rest of his pics over on thehighroad forum. Where the wrist meets the receiver is horrible.

Iwsbull, hope you don't mind me sharing for those here that are wondering.

I've got a Rossi in 44 mag, you may want to bring a slip on recoil pad for that little beast. Mine will wake you up enough. I got a leather tie on recoil/stock cover for mine and it looks and shoots great. Best of luck and enjoy.

Bazoo no problem I had meant to add those pics here as well.
Kungfustyle the 454C comes with a pad and I have heard it was a most welcome feature.
I hope to eventually get it to the range but I have too many things going on for me to make it right now and if the wrist doesn’t survive I guess I might look to get a laminate stock for the durability factor.

I have a little Rossi in.44 Magnum also.
I let my supervisor at the time shoot it.
He is a big guy and the Rossi looked like a Daisy Red Rider in his hands.
When he shot it, he didn't have it tight to his shoulder, it was kind of funny, he didn't think so at the time.
He just couldn't hardly believe how a little gun that shoots pistol bullets kick so much.
He now has quite a collection of lever guns and pistols of his own, I guess I created a monster.

The 45 colt is mild in comparison to the 44 mag.
Now if you load your own, then you can get it up to the 44 mag level.
I have two 45 colt rifles a Rossi and a Marlin Cowboy, also a 44 mag, but it's a Henry, the heavy brass model with the octagon barrel.
The heft of that rifle really tames the 44 even with the Lee 310 bullet.

I am going to have to slightly deep seat the bullet I am wanting to use so that it will fit in the loading gate, it’s a 330 grain hp that I get about 1400 fps with out of my 7 1/2” revolver so I hope to hit 1700-1750 with it out of the rifle. And probably use Hornady 240 xtp mag jacketed bullets if I decide to go light and fast as Brian Pearce was getting almost 2300fps with them in his rifle.

Be interested in those results. I have some 325 gr wfn that I got from Missouri bullet co.
I want to try after hunting season, I have a couple of powders to work with,
what powder are you using if you don't mind me asking?

For top end it’s H110 ( Hodgdon website ) but I have used Longshot, HS6 and True Blue.

I'm shooting a lee 300gr (actual 312gr) with a case full of lilgun for 1950 fps from my Puma 454. What's not to like?

Rbuck is that the one with the double crimp grooves? If so how is it at longer ranges and do you seat it long or short?

Nice! We have three Rossi 92’s. One 44 and two 45’s. I load my 45 with 200 gr. RNFP and mid range load of W231 or AA5. It has become my very favorite rifle. Also a Uberti SAA in same 45 Colt. Lots of fun, and I don’t have to chase my brass all over the place. I would like to try one in 454. I bet that’s a thumper.

It is a double groove seated long. I haven't been able to mount a scope on it and with my 75 year old eyes about 3 to 4 inch at 100yd is about the best I can do with open sights. I haven't tried any farther.

I got a scope base for the 454 from NOE but when mounted in place of the rear sight, it doesn't set level with the bore so there's not enough adjustment of the scope to zero it.

It is a bit of a thumper but my 416 Remis worse.

I do hope that it’s recoil pales in comparison to the 416, o f you have used it on game how did the bullet do?

I have only shot one deer with it and that was with a Sierra 300gr jacketed pistol bullet at about 1600 fps. That was before I got the lee mold. 75yds through both shoulders with bullet lost. Deer stumbled about 7 yds and dropped with very little meat damage.

Recoil isn't like the 416 but is is pretty stiff
