Waiting on a new SxS to arrive, got the jump on some eeloading fodder. I've got two 410 loaders but with the drought on factory, decided to go brass.

Factory is a nice convienance but you really only get one good reload from them, particularly with the Remington style ribbed hulls. Win AAs I can get 3-5 reloads in but the patterns shrink with each loading.

Got a brass reloading guide coming from BPS looking for loads to plays clays with. I'll have to get some 7.5s and 8s as I think my shot inventory is only 8.5s and 9s.

What are yall loading and how are they patterning. Looking for loads the pattern well at 35-40 yards. Greg.

I never likes the 410…….grew up on a 20 ga. And the 410 were clunky

And I’m trying to get brass shot shells for 10 to 28 ga.

But I just got a break open 44(410) from around 1905…… I AM HOOKED!!!!

Elegant lil thing. A 44 marking would shoot 2 1/2” brass shells and then the 410 came along

I have a 9.3x72R in an Austrian break open.

And the 9.3x74R would make wonderful 3” 410 shells.

I’m in the middle of moving now but stay in touch. I’ll be making crimp dies and such for the brass shells.

Haven't tried at 35-40 yds yet. 20 yd patters look good using x74 brass and 296 powder. Don't remember the charge, but google it and I am sure you can find the reference back to this site.

Is this your setup? I’d love to know the dimensions on that piece of angle metal for making a shot maker!

you dont crimp///you glue in an overshot card...should last pretty much forever.

Midway-USA. They're in and outta stock so just get put on the notifications and an email will pop up when it becomes available. They are in stock right now.

NOTE: They require .43 Nitro cards, .43 cushion wads and .45 over shot cards all available from Ballistic Product Specialty (BPS) . I'm also gonna try a standard 410 wad with a Nitro card underneath to get a good seal.

Fire formed some 9.3x74R brass yesturday. Found some info on dan web calling for 10gr of fast powder. I started @ 8.0gr of Bullseye and worked up in .5 grain increments. I got a couple of kinks in the necks on the test samples but it looks like 8.5-9.0gr of BE, a small square of two of toilet paper packed down, grits and and a paraffin plug.

Loaded 4 2.5" shells up with Fed100 LPP, 14.9gr Lil Gun, .43 Nitro card and a Rem SP410 wad with 1/2oz #8 shot, .45 overshot card and waterglass to seal. Still got my fingers n toes. Need to run them across a chrony.

Many 410 break open shots have chamber walls as thick or thicker then what is used on center fire rifles due to being made on 20 or 12 frames. Iraqveteran8888 did a series on a 1960's single barrel brazilian made 410 and they really had to go out of their way to deliberately blow it up. It handled .45 casull like it was made for it. .444 marlin, no problem. I am not suggesting that anyone do something foolish, but just to say that such guns of the inexpensive break open 410 made on a 20 or 12 ga that were intended for the american market can be incredibly strong.
To blow it up they loaded a .454 casull with 405 lead cast gr .45 cal bullet with a charge of 45 grains of range trash sweepings that would likely kaboom a .30 cal rifle also. My 410 is savage 22/410 and will be very carefull with what I do with it and I do have some .410 brass cases also.

try without wad petals...... just cause you can... for quail etc up close it may be useful to spread pattern somewhat more...swings n roundabouts either way.
