Absolutely beat that steel plate to death this afternoon. (200 yards) Bullets courtesy of John Kirk now I gotta buy a mold. Ever since I saw the coats brothers shooting 308 cast 5 years ago at 500 yards that’s been my goal and dream. These bullets I believe will get me there. A little fine tuning and half grain or smaller ladder test and we’ll have it dialed. 23 grains accurate 5744 and NOE 310-165 GC and powder coated, sixed to 311. No expert but I’m finding what works for me. Could not get video loaded of steel flipping at 200 pictures are 100 yard targets 320602320603320604

5744 is indeed a great cast boolit rifle powder. I switched to it when SR4759 was discontinued and never looked back. Another powder that works really well too is RL7. I use 5744 in 308 & 30-06 and some of the big magnum calibers. It's great in the 300 Win Mag. Good shooting and good range report Sir, thank you for posting.

Isn't 5744 very hard to find?

I was the guy shooting in the Coats Brothers vid. I believe I was using H414 in that video pushing those 165’s at 2600fs. What speed are your 5744 loads?

Man I appreciate you sharing all that you have I’ve watched that one video 100 times and all the rest! To be honest I’m not sure a chronograph better be under my Christmas tree! According to the recipe between 2100-2200. I know you said Speeeeeed

Matter of fact I just dug through a bunch of reloading gear I inherited and I have 2lbs of H414. Where did your data for that powder and bullet

Happy for ya. I'm ladder testing 45-70 hardcast, using IMR4198. The "nodes" are very narrow. You think 5744 is more forgiving re: loads?

A very near if not identical replacement for AA-5744 is Shooters World powder (Buffalo Rifle). It is actually cheaper than 5744 if you can find it.
