Anneal or no?

Hello All: I've made a jacket die to produce 22 jackets from 22lr. Works great. I'm going to be using a Herter's Partial Jacket Die to form the bullet. Looks like the ogive will be completely lead, with the jacket ending up short of the taper. As the jacket will not end up being part of the taper, will it still need to be annealed? Thanks, Danth

Danth, you can make them without annealing them. Usually you only need to do that if you are bringing the jacket to a small point. One thing I do notice if I don't anneal is the bullet base will not be quite as flat but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
