I am wondering if yall have a favorite mold for heavy cast boolits for the .44 mag. I want to have at least 280gr 300+ would be preferred. I need it for bear loads.

I use the SSK designed 310 from a mould built for SSK by NEI. It is a bore riding truncated cone. You can try to get NEI to build one for you or you can design one on the Mountain Moulds web sight. Larry Kelly of MagNaPort shot Brown Bear and all kinds of African game with it.

I don't shoot a .44 much but do use a .41 with heavy bullets. Favoirite is LBT 250 in .41. I will be buying other LBT moulds for other pistols and rifles; they are good, easy casting and the bullets seem to work.

I shoot the LEE 310gr rf boolit over 16gr of 4227. gives me 1100fps from my 12" TC Encore.

Hit on the ballisticast web site. Look for the .44 moulds ending in #326 and #328.

The first runs 278 grains out of my mould and the second 317 grains. These are true Keith designs and I bought mine from H & G before they folded and sold out to ballisticast.

Actually, the heavier bullet is too heavy for much of my use but the 278 grain is great.

No, I'll not sell either one./beagle

I'm pretty much set on the Lee 310gr WFPGC. It's accurate & easily makes 1100fps in my 7 1/2" Ruger.

my favorites in heavy 44s are these three. the ballistic cast 300 lfngc the lbt 300 lfngc and the lyman 320 swcgc. All three have proven to be real accurate and do well on game.
