Lyman 457124 45-70 Data ID Help Needed

I have been doing some research for loading 45-70, and I came across this picture:

It was posted in a thread, and it happened to have data for the Lyman 457124 bullet that I'm researching. I'd appreciate it if someone who recognizes the source (I believe its Lyman, but no idea which book) would chime in.

I wish I could find samples of the 457124 bullet to measure, but I found some measurements on buffalo arms site that will suffice for my load development for now.

Does anyone know the history of the 457124? It must have been discontinued and or not very popular because I can't find much about it.

I have the Lyman cast bullet handbook 4th edition the 457124 bullet is listed for 1873 Springfield, Ruger no 1 & no 3 casts a 385 gr
with #2 alloy. I have a Lyman single cavity mold

Hey Bazoo.
In the back of the Lyman 45th Edition it says this.
Bullet #457124 - A plain base bullet having four grooves and a normal cast diameter of .460. This is our standard bullet for the 45-70, but it is also a good bullet for other 45 caliber rifles.

Here's some more data for mold #457124; soft lead in a 27" barrel percussion muzzleloader.
When cast with no alloying the bullets fit in the .458" bore without sizing. Also by the way the weight is up around 420 grains.
On the low end perhaps the data shows approximately what would be expected with black in the 45-70.

Boolits from my 457124 mold drop just over 400 gr from 25/1 alloy and, loaded over 13.0 gr Unique, shoot to the sight settings on my Trapdoor Carbine.

It, the 457-124 is Lyman's version (loose copy) of the 1873 Springfield arsenal 45 Govt. bullet for both rifle and carbine and remained the standard bullet for the carbine after 1881 when the standard bullet became the 500grn round nose for the rifle; Which Lyman copied as number 456125 and then 457125.
Both 457 xxx bullets are still in production.

I have that bullet in HP.
Mine casts at 380 something grains.
My trapdoor load is 30 gr. IMR 4831 with a 1gr. Dacron filler.

As I recall from somewhere (?) the 457124 was designed with a smaller diameter nose to allow use in trapdoor Springfields with black powder. Made smaller to allow chambering after black powder fouling. Sorry I don't recall the source of this./beagle

I've yet to find samples of the 457124, but I'm thankful for the data so I can load the bullets I have on hand.

I forgot to mention, that the bullets I have are Matt's 458-365-RF https://bulletmatch.com/bullets/matt-s-bullets-458-365-rf They have a slight shorter base to crimp measurement than the 457124, which is why I'm interested in that data.
