42 grains of IMR 4198 under a 420 cast gets me 1835 fps over the chrony, that is 300 fps faster than the IMR 3031 loads.
Either load will take any game I aim at without worry of losing the game.
I have taken Blacktail deer with this load out of a Marlin GG, no bullet recovery, but a deer recovery.

I shoot bp sub sometimes to reduce recoil. How’s your recoil? Have you ever shot Imr 4064 or 4895 in it? I’m aiming to do so. That what I have. Really want to try bh 209. Don’t hunt though but want to own the 200 yd gongs at my range. Smaller bullets are better. Next it will be a 292 grain hp - see if it carries.

I’ve got a CVA scout too. Accuracy pretty good. I think it has 5r rifling so can’t measure the grooves but I think. It’s .457. Yours groove diameter is what I’m after. I like the 459-405-HB for consistency in mine.

I started a thread on this very rifle in single shot gun forum.
