Seems I'm always looking for answers more than I'm giving them. I took my 1867 rolling block to the range yesterday with 10 cut down .348 cases. (I had already annealed and did the first fireform with about 10 grains bullsye and COW and beez wax plug. the top third opened up good ( wasp wasted ) ), on this trip I loaded 8 grains unique, tissue, COW and a .495 roundball , paper patched with one wrap of sales reciept paper:veryconfu ( only thing close to .500 inch mould I had ) . what a hoot to shoot . the last 2 shots I aimed at a target at 50y and they hit 1.5 inches apart !. [smilie=1: Oh ya my question, still did not form out the bottom 1/3rd of the case. should I anneal down firther on the case or will a heavier charge take care of it ? . thanks for all the help .

DON'T anneal closer to the base of the case. A full charge with a boolit that will fill the throat will take care of it. If you anneal closer to the base you weaken the base - that you don't want!
