Hi guys.. New to the forum here.

I did a bit of a search and came up with nothing I could use, so please forgive me if this question has been asked to death..

Who if anyone has black powder (suitable for pistols, like 3FG) in one-pound cans? I know that Powder Inc has 5 lbs cans, but that's about 3 lbs more than I'll probably shoot in the remainder of my shooting years..

Geez.. In the 1980's, I used to buy this stuff at the Flintlock in "Hobby City", across the street from Knott's Berry Farm in CA. One pound can of Goex, no problem.

Well, that was then, and this is now.. haha..

Powder Inc won't ship less than 5 1 lb cans, and I'm not sure that Grafs, Powder Valley or Buffalo Arms will either.
But even if they did the hazmat on 1 lb of powder makes for an awfully expensive pound of powder

Powder Valley had it last time I looked.

Do we know if this can be shipped to OK? (Dad-in-law, I'm in CA) .. I'm not up on the current rules and regs, just getting back into this from years ago.

You would have to pick it up from your in-law or he would have to hand deliver it but he can’t ship it to you unless he’s properly licensed

Oh, yes. This is for my visit to OK.. And for him, he's an enthusiast too.. Because of the local laws being so lax, he's allowed to build a shooting range on his own property. So out come the loaders and dozers, and we are building a berm and a shooting place.. God bless Oklahoma..

You might also ask your local Bass Pro or Cabellas if they have black powder. It won’t be on the shelf, but vaulted up in the back. I know Cabellas in Hamburg, PA carried it and Bass Pro in Tampa.

depending on where in ok you are going you can swing by whicita ks and pick it up, no shipping or hazmat. powder valley is about 3 miles south of whicita

You should buy the 5lbs minimum. You will go through it a lot faster than you think. It will also make the HazMat fee easier to deal with.

If you're traveling from California to Oklahoma there's probably a place on the way there.

Get together with some friends and put an order together. This gets you past the minimum and breaks the hazmat down. A club order with members of your club may even get you to a price break point

Knew the Flintlock store well. If you are still in So. Cal the store at Angeles shooting range in Tujunga canyon sells it by the pound.Call ahead as they are limited to small amount in storage.

Seriously? 5 pounds is too much? That is kind of strange. You must have no friends that shoot BP. You could end up a hero...............
