Praise the Lord! We got puppies!

I'm proud to announce the birth(s) of a litter of Border Collie puppies at our house! So far four are new breathers out and suckling with more to come.

It always saddens me when someone posts he lost his lifetime four legged friend. Having lost many in my own life, I know the gut wrenching lonely feeling. It is with great joy that I post new life for a change!

The parents.

nothing cooler then a puppy. next to your newborn baby nothing melts my hard heart quicker. the one in my avatar was the best dog ive ever had. he passed 7 years ago. how could he not be a great dog. chocolate lab named Elmer Kieth. ive got a good replacement but elmer was one of those one of a kind dogs

Lloyd, I well remember when you lost Elmer. I believe it was heart breaking for all of us here. Most here have gone through the sadness and heart ache of loosing a beloved pet. It seems unfair that one of the most joyous days of our lives, bringing home a new puppy will ultimately lead to one of the saddest days of our lives, the day we have to part with them after a life of being the best of pals. The best we can do is give them a good life.

(update) five puppies now, three B&W, (dad) and two Merle, (mom).

The joy of newborn best friends and the sadness of losing said best friend in time. I lost my best girl 12 years ago after she spent every minute of every day for 10 years by my side; I have two replacements, just not the same.....................

They never replace the memories of the ones that had to leave, we must train and give the new puppy a chance to create their own memories.

(update) seven puppies now!

Pups are cool, but a long road between weening and being trained. The loss is hard for sure.

(update) only six puppies. One stillborn, mama dog and I couldn't get to breath. I even tried gentle mouth to nostril.

She just popped another, so it's back to seven!

We've not had puppies in a while, but I have a boxer that's my baby. I still remember what puppy breath smells like.

Well, the final tally is, eleven live puppies, one still born for twelve total. I was figuring on maybe five...six.

WOW!! Great job Mom.. Eleven pups from a couple of the smartest dogs that were ever invented. It's not hard to imagine that this litter is gonna cause a lot of happiness in this world. jd

Congratulations. 11 out of 12 is grand. And the mottled is so pretty. Those are some smart dogs.

We just had to put down down our last rat terrior an hour ago. But 16 years and 7 months is a good long life. Hope your new pups can make it that long. You'd better get on that chewy for sure. 11 pups will be eating you out of house and home in a month....

Handloader109, sorry for your loss.

I lost my Daisy dog, a minpin/terrier cross just about a year ago. I still call the new dog (Bear aka Idiot Boy) Daisy once in a while.

It has been a while since I had a litter of puppies running around here, I kind of miss it. I don't miss the heartbreak of trying to find decent homes for them though.

Seriously, I'm going to look into that. Maybe not speed dial, but I'm going to look into Chewy for vitamins and the shots I can give.

I use them. I get stuff delivered to the house for the same or less than I can get at the store. Plus, lots more choices. Good luck with the new pups!

…… I'm going to look into Chewy for vitamins and the shots I can give.

We get our dog food (Taste of the Wild) and dog vitamins from Chewy.
If you have a prescription for pet meds it’d be worthwhile to get prices from GLOBAL Pharmacy. They will be less expensive than Chewy, whether you’re buying name brand or generic. I’ve been buying my own generic meds from them at roughly 15% of what US pharmacies charge. Never had an issue.

As a child, the first puppies that I witnessed being born were Border Collies. We were a dairy family and they were family as well. Hard working loveable dogs with a dash of crazy included for grins[emoji16]
Puppy breath is high on my list of aromas that I miss from losing my sense of smell!

i think heaven will smell like a puppy!!!

It was a sad occasion wrapping up, boxing, and burying the one who was stillborn yesterday. Then I thought, ''Maybe God needs a good puppy in Heaven right now.'' I thanked him for the eleven and told him he was welcome to the one he kept.

I can get all but restricted dog/puppy meds, (shots included) from Tractor Supply, but they are pricey there. I'll look into gpharmaplus. Thanks for the link!

Years ago the wife and I decided to do a litter of pups from our black Border Collie-Lab mix female with a Black Lab male down the street. (It made his evening, I can tell ya!) Had 8 puppies: 4 yellow (2 male, 2 female) and 4 black (2 male and 2 female) and 1 stillborn. It was an awesome experience, albeit very time consuming. But worth every moment. We kept two, a yellow female and a black female and just lost the black one to Cushings. Some of the best memories of pups ever. That black girl was my best'est friend, short of the wife and son.

Eleven squirming puppies all either competing for food or bunched up sleeping. Mom took a break today, twice to play ball! I've never had one do that, however she did make sure they were sleeping and daddy dog was with her playing too. He gets no time, (yet) with the kids. If he gets too close, like within five feet, she sits up and snarels him good and he backs off.

Mom and dad with her Border Collie cow dog, ''Pal''. According to mom Pal was the best dog ever. (the bear trap and more like it belonged to my grandfather who made a living of trapping them from 1901-1920 when it was outlawed. I included a photo without Pal showing the full junk car in the background. I know some of you would be curious.)

had a buddy who died from cancer last year that told me if elmer wasnt claimed yet he was his until i arrive. some people clain pets dont go to heaven but the way i see it how could it be as good as they say without them. heaven to me is a cabin in the wood for me and all my dogs told the wife shes welcome but its not mandatory

Lloyd, if you look into Isaiah 65:21-25 you'll see that animals will be there, (why not pets we have known?). In fact the last 4-5 chapters of Isaiah gives a pretty clear vision of Heaven.

I'll take some more soon, although they haven't changed much yet, their coats are a bit more defined and of course they're fatter! Their eyes should open up late next week, that'll be their biggest change until they begin to, ''fur-up'' and act up! I was just watching them feed and there's photo-ops there! One of them came in from behind mom's rear legs, dove in, and was in a head stand for a bit! Nikon was 20' away...

There's a perfectly good reason I never went into sales, marketing, or judging anything. I'm no good at it!

The two puppies I thought wouldn't sell are the first picked by their future forever owners.

Molly Tailpipe, was the first pick of the litter by the family who owns a local auto repair shop. They had to put their Austrailian Shepherd down recently. I wasn't trying to sell a puppy, but one look at some pictures and they wanted to see the females. I took them over in a pic-nic basket and to my dismay they chose the girl I figured would stay with us.

Our grandson came by Saturday to pick his first dog and chose another we thought we would be raising for ourselves.

I got a puppy from an Australian shepherd and a Australian/border Collie mix. He is the best dog I've ever known and I just love him. I always pick the dog with the most brown because it's my favorite color. So far it has kept me lucky with dogs!
