I have a new Miroku rifle from the 80s I beleive that I am setting up as a hunting rifle; alread sent it off for a set of skinner sights. The trigger has some creep and catches and I plan on just cleaning up the two surfaces with ruby stones. I am checking to see if there are any known fixtures that I should use? Otherwise, my plan is to use sharpie to ensure the material being removed is uniform and again to ensure that the two surfaces are interacting uniformly after. I know to go slow; couple of passes at a time.

Any other advice?

Another method I have used on handguns, is to slather some 600-800 grit Clover compound inside the action, then cycle repeatedly until you are satisfied it’s slick enough. Only caution is that ALL of the compound needs to be removed because you don’t want it to keep grinding. I use an old toothbrush and some kerosene to rinse.
