I've had a Smith & Wesson 1937 Brazilian Contract for quite a few years. Picked up a Wondersight at a gun show this summer. Thought I install it on this revolver. Decided to clean the internals since there was some rust and dried grease in the inside. Went to assemble everything and cannot get the hand to turn the cylinder. Everything else works fine except the hand engaging. Any suggestions? What I'm I doing wrong (besides taking the thing apart!). I would appreciate any advice regarding this matter. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Been a while but.. Isn't there two tiny pins on the hand? Seems you have to pre-load the spring in the trigger with the pin on the hand as that's what gives it tension on the cylinder star. Hard to describe but pretty sure this is where your problem lies.

Suggest taking it apart. With the trigger in your hand and the hand in your hand you'll see in that tiny "window" on the trigger that there's a spring in there. The one pin on the hand gets under that spring, so as to "pre-load" the hand. While under correct spring tension the hand should be spring loaded towards the front of the gun, away from the shooter and towards the cylinder star. Does that make sense? It does in my head:-)

I have one, too.

After your PM I was trying to think of the ~type~ of spring and its a *torsional* spring.

There it is.. Buy two of them because they're tiny and easy to loose and they're very cheap.

That spring is for MIM guns only.

On pre-MIM guns, the hand spring is captive and doesn’t fall out when you remove the trigger. He just needs to pre-load it, as someone mentioned.

As a test, remove the trigger, but leave the hand in place. You should feel some resistance when you move the hand back to lift the trigger out.

With the trigger out, the hand should spring forward and give a little resistance when you pull it to the rear.
