I've read in a couple of place that Miroku bore size on the .38-55 is .377. Have any of you "slugged" your barrel to verify this. If that diameter is correct, are you using .379 lead bullets?

I cast for the 44-40 WCF. Came across a Miroku lever gun that would not chamber the cartridge until I sized the bullet down to fit.

mine is .381 in the throat I would guess the bore is .377 , I paper patch my bullets to fit the throat at .381 for a tight fit with finger pressure , accuracy is excellent out to 200 yard.

Do yourself a favor and perform a chamber casting to include throat and a bit of the bore. That'll tell you all you need to know about bullet fit for your gun. It's not rocket science, and I plain don't understand why guys are afraid to do it!

My new 1894 Miroku/Winchester Sporter in 38-55 slugged .375, as Winchester told me.
I size to .376 (powder coat).
