I looked in the ''Vitage'' forums and didn't find ads. Maybe create a section for them?

Plus one on wanting a section for them.

Rather than three of each, I would opt for broadening the selection! :drinks:

One thing I thought of last night. It would be picture heavy. Would it run up too much space?

How 'bout the old Interarms ads for different Mauser variants...Argentine, Peruvian, Czech, Polish, Bulgarian, etc.? And, also of course, those near-mint Kropatscheks and Vetterlis.

I'm sure they're out there for a search. I don't recall an ad for such, however there was a department store in our area in the 60's/70's called, ''Town and Country''. It was akin to a J.C. Penny, E.J. Korvettes type store, quite a few steps above a Walmart or K-Mart. They had a wonderful gun department with a wall of unissued milsurps! No junk, used milsurps were in racks on the floor. I remember buying a new flawless 1909 Argentine Mauser off that rack for under $60.00 and a near perfect post war F.N. ''Standard Model'' Mauser in .30/06 for $85.00. I wish I could go back!

The one that haunts me was a HY Hunter ad for Winchester 95's in 7.62x54, of course, in the 60's $69.95 was more than a new Marlin 336- 1964 - $53.95 on sale.

Thanks for posting those.
The majority of people….back when a Remington 510 was $5….. didn’t make $5 an hour……
Enjoyed the nostalgia, though.

I love those old gun ads. One thing you quickly realize is how drastically the people look compared to current ads. So many of modern advertisements have guys that look more like criminals or trespassing poachers than somebody you'd identify with. They never have a smile on their face and always look like they are about to challenge somebody to a fight. These old ads are a very welcome change. A simple innocent enthusiastic description of the product. Bring on more!

Back in the day (California) my Dad got my brother a Remington .22 rifle with "green stamps". I have that rifle in mint condition in my safe.

Those ads are all wrong. Pictures of people using guns for fun and recreation. Real gun ads show people in tactical gear prepared to shoot people during home invasion or unrest. It is sad how many guns are bought out of fear these days. Our society has changed and not for the better.

Here’s a M52 ad.319290 Haven't seen any sharp dressed fashionable ladies wearing makeup at my shoots lately. I have seen some hotties at CAS state and regionals that I’ve shot though.

As much as I don't want to admit it, you have pierced the heart of the problem of society today. When I was young and these ads were fresh, we had something we called ''Neighborly Love''. That is, people actually talked with, interacted with, shared with, did for, and loved their neighbors. Neighbors were like an extended family, a trusted inner circle for the most part. There were always and always will be a few misfits or even enemies in the neighborhood, but nothing to really fear, (well, maybe inner cities).

On with the ads!

The old American Rifleman ads always showed a "ring pull" Swiss rifle. The ring is actually the safety; now that I own a K31 I found that out.
