I was reading about different recipes for boolit alloy the other day and came across "Hardball Alloy". What would be the BHN of this alloy, does anyone know? It gave the recipes for two different mxitures, but no BHN.

96-2-2 also known as Taracorp alloy. IIRC, about 18 BHN.

Edit: Doh! I got the 6 in the wrong spot. It' 92-6-2 as odoh states below.

Short ans: HB is the modern day Lyman #2 I'm told. Pretty much the same but w/less expensive tin. Its 2% tin, 6% antimony leaving 92% lead. Midway sells it and has some tech info in their listing.

You can make the equivalent by mixing half linotype and half pure lead.

So, this would be around 16 BHN, give or take. Thanks!
