So I was at an auction today and bought two scopes. One I kind of intended to buy, a K-4 Weaver. It has the center dot reticle; not real wild about them, but it will do.

The other is a Jason 2.5X with a 32mm objective. I have never had one of this brand and a little (very little) looking around the internet makes me think they were the Simmons and Tasco scopes of the 1960's and early 1970's?

As long as it will hold zero, I think it will do okay on a seldom used .22

Regardless how the Jason turns out, I don't think I got hurt since I only gave $20 for the pair.

Jason was a company in the 80's and 90's that were best known for infinite focus binoculars. It wasn't a junk vendor, but not super high quality.

I looked in "Old Rifle Scopes" for info on the Jason scopes. Says they were imported by Jason Empire Co., Kansas City from 1969 to 1971. The 2.5X is not listed but a 4X was $19.95. Had all the good stuff, coated lens, nitrogen filled, centered image and corrected lens.

I have picked up several old Japanese off brand scopes at estate sales and put then on 22 rifles. Some worked surprisingly well. Most are still better than some of the Chinese scopes we see today. The K4, if nice, was worth more than $20 so the Jason was free.

The Jason binoculars are not bad. I still have two pair that look like hell but still work. My wife keeps one pair in her truck, the other stays on the tractor. The infinite focus is just neat.

69-71 sounds about right, going by the looks of the scope. It even came with a set of no name .22 rings on it.

The K-4 seems okay, I won't know until I actually mount it on a rifle and try to bore sight it.

For $20, if either one of these scopes works I'll be happy.

Jason binoculars were common but never saw a rifle scope.
